Four students receive Candidacy at Douai Martyrs celebration

New candidates with Bishop Alan Hopes
New candidates with Bishop Alan Hopes, the Rector and Vice-Rector.

At the celebration of the feast of the Douai Martyrs, Bishop Alan Hopes conferred Candidacy on four Allen Hall students.

Thevakingsley Arulananthem, Vincent Malone, Kevin Moule and David Reilly were all made Candidates for Holy Orders at the Mass. This is a public statement of intent, on the part of the candidates, to go forward for Ordination. It is also an acceptance by the Church of this desire, and a formal recognition of the journey towards priesthood.

It is particularly appropriate that this celebration takes place on the feast of the Douai Martyrs. These were one hundred and fifty eight members of the college in Douai, to which Allen Hall is heir, who met with a martyr's death in England and Wales following the Reformation.
