How to support the training of priests for our diocese
Arrange a parish visit to Allen Hall

Fundraising (WEEF)

2007 WEEF appeal letter from the Rector:

Canon Paul McGinn

Every year there is an appeal in our diocese for the training of students for the priesthood. This gives all of us in Allen Hall, the diocesan seminary in Chelsea, a chance to thank those who have helped us during the past year and to give everyone a little update regarding our students.

We are very grateful to all who have contributed to the appeal made in each parish, to those who have sent us donations directly and to those who have remembered us in their will. We thank you, too, for all your prayers for us.

Last September we had the largest in-take of students for six years – 14 in all (9 for our own diocese, 4 for the diocese of Lancaster and 1 for the Augustinians). They are an impressive group whose many gifts and talents have enriched our community in the course of the year.

We are always delighted to welcome visitors to Allen Hall especially groups from parishes. If you are planning a visit, please contact Helena Duckett.

As you give some thought to your gift to us this year, be assured that your contribution will be put to good use. The cost of training (£18,000 per student per year) is high but do remember that our students are being prepared for some 40 or 50 years service in our diocese. Your gift today will in a very real way help prepare the priests of tomorrow.
